Choosing your girlfriend’s engagement ring - the right choice at the right price

CONGRATULATIONS!

So, this is it! You’ve decided to pop the question, or maybe you’ve just both decided to get engaged, now the next big decision is – how much should you spend on the ring? The good news is that it doesn’t have to cost the earth. The even better news is, choosing one of our rings will give your girlfriend the “wow factor” she deserves without breaking the bank or sacrificing the quality.

GULP!?

If it’s a diamond you’re after, choosing the right one will set you back a pretty penny, right? It can be really stressful when it comes to the money, working out just how much you can afford. Stop worrying. Gone are the hard and fast ‘rules’ from the old days when you’d spend a whole month’s + salary, or taking out an expensive loan, on an engagement ring.  This is the 21st century and times have changed, apart from the age old problem of getting it right.

THE LUCKIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD

What’s great is that you want your girlfriend to feel like she’s the luckiest girl in the world. How much you can afford isn’t the focus yet, because you can’t put a price on love. You already have a head start by asking her to marry you! Next, the cost has to be right, for you, because everyone’s circumstances and needs are different. When Paris Hilton accepted her fiancé’s proposal, it wasn’t the million bucks on her finger that blew her away. Instead, in her own words, she was:

"So happy & excited to be engaged to the love of my life".
"My best friend & soulmate. Perfect for me in every way".
"So dedicated, loyal, loving & kindhearted".
"I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! You are my dream come true!"
"Thank you for showing me that fairytales do exist".

WHERE DO YOU START?

First of all, decide what your priority is: will it be sourcing a custom-designed ring that sends a statement to the world? Perhaps your fiancé has a particular affinity for a certain type of stone, or is there a family ring with a special meaning that you want her to have? These all represent a very different price range, and each has a wealth of meaning behind the ring.

YOU CAN AFFORD TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE

There are so many things to consider; from the quality, shape, size, clarity to the colour. These can determine what you’ll end up spending and if it already seems like a lot, it’s probably giving you sleepless nights as well. Let us do the hard work and help you find the right ring, at a cost that fits in with your plans, so that you can get a good night’s sleep.

USEFUL MONEY-SAVING TIPS

  • Dropping just a fraction of carat size can make a big difference in price. What’s more no-one will notice. All they’ll see is a beautiful stone set in your fiancé’s ring.
  • Go for rings with a halo setting, which involves multiple smaller stones rather than the budget busting show stopper.
  • Instead of a diamond, choose a coloured gemstone because these tend to be more affordable than diamonds.
  • Shop online for bigger savings.
  • Sacrificing a little on colour or clarity, whilst going big on the cut, can still give your fiancé the most dazzling ring at a price you can afford.
  • Choosing an ethical ring will also add a beautiful story to a beautiful ring.
