Collaborations: Rising Gems for London Jewellery Week 2009-2011

2009

Coutts London Jewellery Week 2009 saw the launch an exciting collaboration between ten of London’s most innovative and directional young jewellery designers under the name of “Rising Gems”.

The ‘Rising Gems’ group includes, SHO Fine Jewellery, Missoma, Ana De Costa, Assya, Francesca SibyllaAugusta FSA, Ornella Iannuzzi, Sabine Roemer, Leblas (Arabel Lebrusan) , Annina Vogel and Carla Shanks.

The ten designers collaborated on a very special, one-off ‘Rising Gems collection’ sponsored by ENLIGHTENED TM – Swarovski Elements, using their range of precision-cut genuine gemstones in an array of exquisite cuts, colours and brilliance. Each designer created one piece of jewellery in the capsule collection that was be inspired by UK conservation charity the World Land Trust whose patron is Sir David Attenborough. Fighting to protect critically endangered habitats, and the species they support, around the world, the Trust’s projects range from elephant and tiger corridors in India, cloud forests in Ecuador with species of orchids new to science, and wetland projects in Paraguay protecting myriads of aquatic birds and other sensational wildlife. Arabel decided to choose an English project, WLT Kites Hill Reserve in Gloucestershire, where she focused on butterflies, creating this amazing “Butterfly Pendant” using her personal signature of “filigree spirals and twists”.

The Rising Gems Collection was unveiled at Liberty’s Jewellery Room during CLJW 2009 and Arabel saw her exquisite Kite Hills Butterfly Pendant being purchased by a regular customer.
